Not my usual type of post but these are not usual times!
I apologize, in advance, for the venting but I have been horrified by the last 10 months and the last 48 hours are, once again, beyond all understanding!
Where is the world's moral compass? Yes, I have plenty of opinions about the lack of moral compass with the leadership in Israel but let's stick to facts vs my opinions. Don't miss the link at the end of this post - an Egyptian, Muslim, female journalist. Hear from her perspective - facts.
Some background ...
Those who have traveled with me may remember our experience in Majdal Shams—a beautiful Druze village on the Syrian border in the Golan Heights. We had lunch in their homes, met with the Sheikh, and learned about their culture and religion. For those who don't know, the Druze are an offshoot of Islam. They are Arabs but they are not Muslims and they are Israelis.
A few memories from some wonderful visits ...
And this is now .... Majdal Shams is a community, broken, mourning the 12 beautiful, innocent children massacred by Hezbollah (Lebanon) Saturday night while playing soccer!
JULY 27TH: TWELVE INNOCENT ISRAELI DRUZE CHILDREN WERE MASSACRED PLAYING SOCCER!
Where is the world's moral compass? Where is the outrage?
Twelve beautiful, innocent souls!
Here are the facts:
Hezbollah (Lebanon) has been bombing Israel's north since the massacre happened on October 7th in Israel.
Over 70,000 people in northern Israel have been evacuated from their homes 10 months ago due to the constant bombing from Lebanon (Hezbollah)
Hezbollah keeps saying they don't want war yet they are sending Iranian-supplied missiles and drones daily into Israel resulting in many deaths.
Hezbollah is a terrorist organization and a proxy of Iran
Hezbollah resides in Lebanon and are part of the Lebanese government.
While Hezbollah bragged about sending hundreds of missiles to the Golan Heights, as soon as the story began to unfold that those who were massacred were not Jewish Israelis, Hezbollah backtracked on its initial statement and denied responsibility for the attack. News media helped keep their denial going ...
Just a few of the dishonest headlines:
BBC: Israel says it has hit Hezbollah targets in Lebanon after 12 children and young adults were killed in a rocket strike while playing football in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights. The country's air force has blamed the Iran-backed militant group for Saturday's strike on the Druze town of Majdal Shams, but Hezbollah has strongly denied any involvement.
Washington Post: "Israel had promised revenge for a rocket strike from Lebanon that killed 12 in the Golan Heights town of Majdal Shams" NOTE: This is the headline HOWEVER, the visual shows the 12 coffins of the children killed in Majdal Shams. This visual was intentionally placed under that headline to have it appear that Israel's "revenge" caused this massive funeral.
Sky News: An “attack on a football pitch in the Israeli-occupied Golan” that killed 11 people. "Attack" vs massacre? "People" vs children? Where is the mention of the Iranian-backed terrorist organization of Hezbollah? The mention of the “occupied” Golan seemed to legitimize Hezbollah’s indiscriminate attacks.
CNN: Opted to skim over the Hezbollah/Lebanese massacre of Israeli children and instead focused on Hezbollah’s denial that it was responsible.
Why this double standard in the media when it comes to reporting the truth about Israel and Israeli deaths?
Casualties in Israel seem to be stripped of sympathy. For many journalists and people in the world, Israel is an “occupier” and an “aggressor,” and even its civilian losses are framed as a sort of just consequence. This narrative robs the innocent people lost in this war of their humanity and, most importantly, offers a green light for the world's terrorist organizations.
And, by the way, I am a firm believer that innocent lives lost are innocent lives lost! No child asks for this!
Let us not forget a few more critical facts:
Hamas started this war by massacring over 1200 innocent people (Jews, Muslims, Christians ... from around the world)
Hamas took hostage (dead and alive) 240 people
Hamas is still holding 120 hostages - we don't know how many are still alive
Israel is NOT occupying Gaza - Hamas is! Israel left Gaza in 2005 and NO Israeli has been allowed in since then. Innocent Palestinians are also being held hostage by Hamas and are being raised on rabid hatred.
If you're interested in hearing facts from a different perspective, listen to this Egyptian, Muslim woman.
By the way, feel free to share and/or ask questions. Dialogue is so welcomed!
Praying for the Druze community and all of Israel!
